PART TWO: FACING UNCERTAINTY

And He will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is Zion's treasure.

                             ISAIAH 33:6 ESV

I wish someone told me that transitioning into adulthood would be a huge milestone in my life. Twevle plus years of studying in school but not a single lesson about the shift that takes place when one transitions from being a kid to being a bonafide adult. I suppose that some lessons are best learnt in the school of life.

Like I stated in my introduction to this series, the reality that I am now an adult only dawned on me recently. And as you'd imagine, I was not prepared for this thing called 'Adulting' at all. Sure, I had fantasies about what my life as a young adult would be like. More specifically, what my life as a university student would be like. I envisioned myself immersed in freedom from parental control, attending fun parties every other weekend, and dare I say, finally having this thing called life all figured out.

Sure, I have a few of the ducks in my life in a neat little row... For example, my career path is certain. I love medicine and I'm excitedly waiting for the day I will be pronouced Medical Doctor. But I certainly did not expect to incur the challenges that I have faced along the way to fullfiling this God-given dream of mine. I did not anticipate the financial struggles of being in university. I did no anticipate the failures that I've incurred. In short, I did not anticipate that life would happen the way that it has happened. So what now!?

With adulthood comes the need to grapple with the uncertainities of life. None of us know the specifics of what the future holds.  When dealing with this kind of uncertainty, it is imperative that you stand on a certainty that has stood the test of time- God and His faithfulness. Why? Because God is an unshakable Rock of ages. Isaiah 26:4 says: "Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD Himself is the rock eternal." NIV

All through the ages, God and His faithfulness remain unshakable. Seasons have come and seasons have gone. Earthly kingdoms have risen and they have fallen. World wars have broken out and they have ceased. Through it all, God remains the same

When everything around you seems to be shaking and unstable, God remains unshakable and stable. He is a firm foundation for you to stand on when the times are tough. God will keep you steady till the storm of uncertainty passes.

Leaning on God, depending on the surety of His Word and trusting Him with your life is the way to walk through seasons of uncertainty. When you don't have it all figured out, trust the one who has figured it all out for you.

And one more thing; Don't fall into the trap of believing that you are failing in life just because you don't have it all figured out. How can you, a child of the Most High God, be failing in life and be more than a conquerer in Christ Jesus all in one? Impossible! In all things, you are more than a conquerer through Jesus Christ who loves you! Romans 8:37
